DIGITAL PATTERNS

Digitize or scan your paper patterns to make digital copies

Using our pattern digitizing services, you can capture your paper patterns digitally, allowing you to send them electronically to your factories via email for production or sampling. This service also enables you to archive all your existing styles, basic blocks, or slopers for quick retrieval. Say goodbye to torn or missing patterns!

Your factories no longer have to wait days or weeks for the patterns to be approved by the buyer. The digitizing process replicates the patterns exactly as they are and makes them available via email within minutes. The same file can be accessed at your buying house or the buyer's office for measurement checks and corrections. This streamlines the entire pattern approval process, significantly speeding up the apparel prototyping workflow.

Store Patterns Digitally Forever...

Digitizing Patterns:

  • Hard copy patterns, old patterns hanging on a rack, and soft paper patterns manually made can now be digitized into our state-of-the-art digitizing system and put into our system for further pattern editing, modifications, and setting your unique set of grading rules before making a marker.

  • Using our pattern digitizing services, you can have your paper patterns captured digitally so that they can be sent to your factories electronically by email for production or sampling or you can even use it to archive all your existing styles, basic blocks, or slopers so that it can be retrieved instantly.

  • The digitizing process replicates the patterns exactly as it is. The same file can be opened and checked for measurements and corrections. Once your digitized pattern has been entered into our system we can convert it to a DXF format that can be imported by other CAD / CAM / AAMA / ASTM conversion programs and export your model to native CAD systems can be sent by email all over the world.

  • Apparel pattern piece digitizing is a time-consuming process and can be expensive depending on the size of your pattern piece and the complexity of your design. You must accurately provide us with all the necessary pattern piece information for your particular style or design and your pattern.

If you send us paper patterns for digitizing:

  • You need to have a hard copy of the tracking of your design on paper. The paper must be flat for accurate piece digitizing and when sending out your patterns to a digitizer make sure all your pattern tracing is visible and marked with hard lines.

  • Information, such as grain lines and descriptions, must be recorded on every piece. You must take the time to provide all this information and write it on each pattern piece, as this information will be useful for you for tracking purposes in the future.

  • A pattern card must be provided along with a fabric description. Make sure you provide a list of all the pieces for every style you make to your digitizing house as these will serve also as a record for you and your digitizer of how many pieces were digitized and saved into their computer digitizing system.

  • You must make sure that your pattern or style to be digitized in a CAD digitizing system is the correct model, as they will be digitized exactly as submitted. You must know what pieces make your design and do not mix pattern pieces that do not belong to that particular style, as you will be charged for any extra piece digitized.

  • Once your pattern has been entered into a computer system by a digitized or digitizing service your pattern will not be modified, corrected, or changed by the digitizer as this will normally be a separate service charge to you and done by a professional pattern designer.

We offer the creation of original patterns as well as modifications to existing hard paper patterns or digitized data. Storing your patterns electronically provides several benefits, including improved measurement accuracy and the ability to transfer patterns or markers via email, which helps reduce production costs. We can deliver the patterns we create in two formats based on your preference: DXF or PDF.

You can send the DXF format patterns directly to your manufacturing facility, as this format is widely used by textile factories around the world. We specialize in creating fashion patterns for designers and manufacturers, and our services are fully computerized, allowing us to generate the first pattern from a sketch or rough sample.

Whether you are an established company or a new designer looking to develop a new line, we can assist you. Our team has many years of experience in pattern making and can work with clients globally. To get started, simply email us the sketch or the existing pattern that needs revision.

WHAT DO I GET WHEN I BUY A DIGITAL PATTERN?

  • You get both tiled files and wide-format print shop files in PDF format. PDF tiled file patterns are formatted for printing on A4 or US letter-size paper. They can be printed at home or in the office! PDF wide-format print shop patterns are formatted for printing on 36" (914 mm) wide paper, or wider. They can be printed at copy shops that have the right equipment. For some newer styles, where specified, we also send you print shop patterns formatted for printing on A0 paper with your order. These patterns can be printed on A0 paper, which has the following dimensions: 841 mm x 1,189 mm. It is often easier to find print shops that can print on A0 paper, and printing is often cheaper than wider paper formats. Hopefully, the A0 option will make printing your wide-format PDF patterns more economical

WHAT IS A TILED PDF PATTERN FILE?

PDF tiled file patterns are formatted for printing on A4 or US letter-size paper. They can be printed at home or in the office!

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY TILED DIGITAL PATTERN HAS BEEN PRINTED OUT CORRECTLY?

Your pattern has been printed out correctly if the outer edges of the "test square" measure 10 cm (or 3 15/16") and the outer edge of the red rectangle on each pattern tile page measures 9.5 inches by 6.5 inches (24.1 cm x 16.5 cm). If you don't get these measurements check your printer settings and try again!

If you're having trouble getting your printed copies to match these sizes, try these steps:

  1. Save the pattern file (rather than opening it up using a viewer within a browser). To keep it simple you can just save it to your desktop if you like.

  2. Open the pattern file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  3. Try printing out just one of the pattern pages (one with the red rectangles). When the print dialogue box opens up you will have to look through the printer settings to make sure there is NO SCALING going on.

  4. Each printer is different, unfortunately! On my computer, I'm able to set "Custom Scale" to 100%. Some others can choose "Actual Size" or "no scaling" or set page scaling to "None". You should also select "Auto portrait/landscape".

  5. If the red rectangle on the pattern tile pages measures 9.5 inches by 6.5 inches you've printed your pattern correctly!
